(From Parker Mortuary)Samuel Marshall Mitchell Jr., age 63, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Samuel, son of the late Samuel Marshall Mitchell Sr. and Lola (Alley) Mitchell, was born on May 17, 1959, in Joplin. He grew up and attended school in Joplin and Seneca, graduating from Seneca High School Class of 1977. He then enlisted in the United States Army.
After serving his country honorably, he then returned to Joplin and went to work in construction. His passion was horses and was a trainer for many years. He loved his family, and his heart was huge. He could fill a room with his stories and his laughter.
Survivors include his children, William Jenkins, and his wife, Angela, of Oronogo, Kelsey Mitchell, of Joplin, Samuel Marshall Mitchell, III, and, his partner, Brittany Campbell, of Joplin, and Seth Mitchell, and his wife, Rebecca, of Neosho; siblings, Pam Escobar, and her husband, Alberto, of Satellite Beach, FL, and John Mitchell, and his wife, Robin, of Neosho; grandchildren, Jacob Solomon, Michael Jenkins, Brianna Mitchell, Kai Trenche, Savana Trenche, Chyanne Mitchell, and Kailyn Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Kim Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Spring City Baptist Church in Spring City with burial to follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 12:30 PM on Tuesday until service time at the Spring City Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
