(From Ferry Funeral Home)Robert A. Steele, 84, formerly of Nevada, MO, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Freeman Health West in Joplin, MO. Robert was born January 13, 1938, in Nevada, MO to Luther L. and Elia (Penney) Steele.
He married Jane (True) Ratts and they have resided in Joplin, MO for the past several years.
Robert was raised in Nevada and attended Nevada High School. He attended the University of Delaware and graduated from Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia, PA in 1964. He was an insurance sales agent for Century Insurance, and also I.M.I. of Old Saybrook, CT. Robert was an avid model train collector. He and Jane traveled to all 50 states.
Robert is survived by his wife, Jane, of the home; sons, Douglas Steele (Molly), Boulder, CO, and David Steele (Meenakshi), Falls Church, VA; a brother, Loren Steele, Mound City, KS; a sister, Nova Staggs, Sherwood, AR; and 4 grandchildren, Maddie, Jessica, Michael, and Cordelia. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jennifer Steele; and a brother, Jack Steele.
