(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Joan Delores Michel Farmer, 85, of Joplin, MO., passed away on December 27, 2022, after a faithful life.
Joan was born on December 18, 1937, Atwood, KS., the daughter of Adolf and Margaret (Frecks) Michel. Joan was baptized December 25th, 1937, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Colby, KS. She was a graduate of St. John’s College in Winfield, KS. and Concordia College Seward, NE.
She was a Lutheran School teacher and a public-school teacher and librarian, teaching every grade K-8 over a career spanning over 50 years. Joan was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin, MO., where she was active in LWML.
Joan is being remembered by her family and friends as a woman of tremendous faith who loved teaching, telling stories, working in the church, sharing her Christian faith, and serving others in any capacity she could.
She married Richard K. Farmer, on October 23, 1971, he preceded her in death on July 31, 1983. Joan was also preceded in death by her parents, Adolf and Margaret Michel, her two sisters Vera Broderick and Janice Meyer.
Joan is survived by her sons, Russell F. Farmer and Andrew C. Farmer; step-children, Richard K. Farmer, Jr., Thomas L. Farmer, Steven P. Farmer, Jean M. Pogue; 14 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, grandnieces and nephews.

Monetary donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in care of the mortuary.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, MO. Burial will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home and again prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
