Timmie Holmes

Timmie David Holmes, age 74, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 7:48 p.m. on Sunday, December 25, 2022, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born November 17, 1948, in Springfield, the son of Lynville and Dorothy (Friar) Holmes.

Timmie accepted Jesus as his Savior as a young boy while at the Baptist Hill Church Camp. He quietly loved the Lord, his family, horses, his farm and his alma mater, Mizzou.








Timmie was a 1966 graduate of Miller High School, in Miller, Missouri. He received his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri and his master’s degree from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. He was in the Alpha Gamma Sigma Fraternity. Timmie was a retired Colonel of the United States Air Force and a C-130 pilot. After retirement, Timmie worked at the Joplin Stockyards for many years.

On December 20, 1969, he married Mary Ann Thomas in Red Oak, Missouri.

Timmie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann; one daughter, Tara McLaughlin and her husband, Jeff, of Monett, Missouri; one son, Joshua Holmes and his wife, Jamie, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Megan (Jakob) Warren, Jennifer (Jacob) Freeman, Amber McLaughlin, Kristen (Tristin) Smith, Hailey McLaughlin, DJ Holmes and Jeremiah McLaughlin; two sisters, Cathy Williams of Joplin, Missouri and Peggy (Steve) Jones of South Greenfield, Missouri and many close family members and dear neighbors, Matt, Ginia, Kadence, Rylan, Bella, and Masen Oehlschlager.

Timmie was preceded in death by his parents, Lynville and Dorothy and two brothers, Bobbie, and Ronnie Holmes.








A visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt, Vernon, with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Shiloh Cemetery.
