Jerry had many endeavors throughout this life including selling bibles, operating a carpet store, a newspaper, and a country music show. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. When he was young, he wrote the following poem:
“Look Yonder”
Look yonder just over hat hill
The sun is going down, so beautiful and still
Shades of red, gray and blue
Peace I feel by such a glorious view
Look yonder at that forest of trees
Branches like arms holding their leaves
So stately they stand straight and true
Peace I feel by such a glorious view
Look yonder at that mountain so high
Reaching so majestically into the sky
Beauty unsurpassed and flaws that are few
Peace I feel by such a glorious view
Look yonder at that river so deep
Waters gently flowing thru the canyons so steep
Sounds of bubbling water gives a feeling anew
Peace I feel by such a glorious view
Look yonder at the smiling man I see
I can’t believe it, he looks like me
Content with life, old and new
Peace I feel by such a glorious view
-Jerry R. Woody
