Jim Wilson

James, (Jim), Leroy Wilson, 82 of West Mineral, Kansas, formerly from McCune, Kansas entered eternal rest on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 3:24 pm. He passed comfortably with mind at ease surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born October 8,1943 in Camp White, Oregon to Lyman E. Wilson and Moauna D. (Allen), Wilson. He attended McCune Elementary School and graduated from McCune High School in 1961. Jim continued his education at Coffeyville Community College on a track scholarship and then on to the University of Missouri – Columbia where he competed as part of the 1965 Indoor Track & Field National Championship team. There Jim graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry.

Jim proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Jim married Rose Marie (Perello) Wilson on May 30, 1970, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Columbus, Kansas. They have resided in West Mineral ever since.

Jim held multiple positions through the years at Goodrich in Miami, Oklahoma, Kansas Army Ammunition plant in Parsons, Kansas as well as Crossland Construction in Columbus, Kansas, retiring in 2008. Jim was a proud member of the Fraternal order of Eagles Aerie #918 in West Mineral, Kansas for over 55 years. He was proudly inducted into the Kansas State Hall of Fame for having been a loyal and active member of his Aerie with outstanding service to the Fraternal Order of Eagles in June 2020. Following his Naval Service, he was a proud member of the VFW in Cherokee, Kansas and Columbus, Kansas.

Jim enjoyed spending time at his Neosho River cabin as well as entertaining family and friends while there. Jim also loved attending his grandchildren’s many activities from plays to wrestling matches, football, volleyball, softball, and baseball tournaments. He loved watching the kids and grandkids compete. Jim never knew a stranger and went out of his way to make certain everyone felt welcome. He was always a wonderful resource of knowledge and never failed to jump in and help when asked. “Mr. Wilson” was loved by many and will be forever missed.

Survivors include his wife Rose Marie of the home; children Mindy Garrett of West Mineral, KS, Diana Coble and husband Steve of Joplin, MO, Jamie Wilson of Pittsburg, KS and Jeff Wilson and wife Heather of Columbus, KS and six grandchildren Mary Garrett, Keyth Waltrip, Garret Coble, Gavin Coble, Sierra Wilson and Shelbi Wilson.

A Celebration of Life will be hosted by the West Mineral Eagles Club located at 106 Olive Street West Mineral, KS at 12:00pm Saturday March 14, 2026. Lunch will be provided. Jim’s last request was that family and friends come and share memories. 

Jim was an avid reader his entire life and supported the McCune Library. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to McCune Osage Township Library and/or the FOE Aerie #918 in West Mineral, KS. Daniel Jimenez, 45, of Monett, MO, passed from this life on Saturday, February 28, 2026 while at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, AR.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. 

The family invites friends for a time of visitation from 4-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8th, at the funeral home.

Cindy Greathouse

Cindy Ann Greathouse, age 59, of Shell Knob, Missouri passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas in Rogers, Arkansas.

She was born in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Austin and Lee Ann (Boyer) Bowyer. On August 19, 1994 in Wheaton, Missouri she was united in marriage to Hobart “Hoby” Greathouse, who survives. 

Also surviving are her sons, Andrew Greathouse and wife Athena of Shell Knob, Gregory Greathouse of Daytona Beach, Florida and Bob Stott of Cassville; daughters, Miranda Greathouse of Mayfield, Kentucky, Sabrina Thompson and husband Jimmy of Lebanon, Brook Greathouse of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, Beth Greathouse of Shell Knob and Mia Greathouse of Daytona Beach, Florida; brother, Travis Bowyer and wife Sherri of Cassville; sister, Deb Banzhaf and husband Tom of Wichita, Kansas; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents and grandson, Lucas Stott.

Cindy attended school in Cassville, Missouri, graduating from Cassville High School. She was employed by Cassville Elementary School in Cassville and R.J. Longstreet Elementary School in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida as a paraprofessional for several years. Cindy enjoyed reading, visiting with close friends, doing puzzles with her grandchildren and watching football, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Cindy was a firm believer in Jesus Christ.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 6, 2026 at Viney Creek Cemetery in Golden, Missouri, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor J.R. and Vickie Poulson will conduct the services.

Mava Writer

Mava Belle Writer, age 78, of Cassville, Missouri passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 at her home.

She was born October 14, 1947 in Kingston, Arkansas the daughter of Johnny and Edna (Norris) Randall. On March 10, 1967 in Cassville she was united in marriage to Verlon Eugene “Gene” Writer, who survives. Also surviving are her son, Doug Writer and wife Sandy of Cassville; daughter, Mandy Barnes and husband Eric of Cassville; sister, Joyce Darby of Berryville, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Travis, Dacia, Kindra, Augustus, Madison and Logan and two great grandchildren, Adelaide and Ivory.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Max Randall and sisters, Gwendolyn Randall and Faye Moore.

Mava graduated from Cassville High School and later continued her education, earning an associate degree. She worked for many years as an LPN at South Barry County Hospital and FASCO Industries in Cassville. A terrific bowler, Mava also enjoyed crocheting and rarely went anywhere without her children or grandchildren by her side. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Mava was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Donnie Spears will conduct the services. Burial will be at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

Jack Daniels

Jackie “Jack” Dale Daniels was born to the union of Paul and Pearly Daniels on December 27, 1936.

He graduated from Neosho High School in 1954.

In 1956, he married Geraldine Cooper. To that union were born two daughters, Kimmy Sue and Rita.

Jack surrendered to preach on Easter Sunday night, 1963, at Hilldale Baptist Church. He went on to pastor several churches in the area and in the state of Florida. He served as pastor of Royal Heights Baptist Church in Joplin, Missouri, from 1987 to 2025, faithfully leading the congregation for nearly four decades.

Jack continued his education at Southwest Baptist University, where he obtained degrees in theology, world religions, and American and world history.

After the passing of his first wife, he married Barbara Johnson in 1986.

He continued his ministry working with the homeless and served as president of Souls Harbor Mission for many years, until his retirement in 2014. He also retired from Old Dominion Trucking in 2002.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives; his daughter, Kimmy Sue Daniels (1986); and his son, John Johnson (2026), who passed away one week prior to him.

He is survived by his loving family:

Mary Helen Ewing

Mary Helen Ewing, 93, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her home on February 28, 2026. Born June 22, 1932, in Joplin to Roscoe and Iola Smith (and later her step-dad Fred Wilson), Mary Helen was a lifelong resident of the community she dearly loved.

On July 12, 1952, she married the love of her life, Gaylen Ewing, in Eureka Springs. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and devotion, and were blessed with three daughters. Mary Helen’s greatest joy was her family, and she poured her love generously into each generation.

She was the perfect combination of sugar with a little bit of spice. She found simple pleasures in life, especially in the beauty of nature. Mary Helen delighted in watching hummingbirds and treasured yellow roses. Known to family and friends as “Nanny”, she was an avid baker, especially renowned for her pies. Her loved ones never missed a birthday without a special pie from Nanny.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gaylen Ewing; her parents, Roscoe and Iola Smith (Fred Wilson); and her three brothers, Raymond Smith, Norman Smith, and Gene Smith.

Mary Helen is survived by her daughters, Elsie Lynn Crume, Rebecca White, Tammy Perry (Jamie Perry); niece Julianne Hare; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Mason-Woodard Chapel.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, also at Mason-Woodard Chapel.

Mary Helen’s life was one of enduring love, and faithful presence. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Gail Turner

Gail Dean Turner, age 79, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 2:40 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at his home. He was born January 24, 1947, in Bradleyville, Missouri, the son of the late Orvel and Hazel (Clayton) Turner.

Gail was a 1966 graduate of Bradleyville High School in Bradleyville, Missouri, and was a United State Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Gail retired from Associated Wholesale Grocers in Springfield, Missouri and was a cattle farmer.

On June 1, 1991, he married Connie Kay Owens, in Aurora, Missouri.

Gail is survived by his wife of 34 years, Connie; three step-children, Darin Hamelink and his wife, Roslyn, of Aurora, Missouri, Kim Miner and her husband, Jim, of Marionville, Missouri and Joanna Hamelink of Aurora, Missouri; one daughter, Deanna Moses of Branson, Missouri; seven step grandchildren; two grandchildren; one sister, Debbie Wilkey and her husband, Jim, of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers, Jerry Turner and his wife, Joan, of Ozark, Missouri and Tony Turner and his wife, Patty, of Powersite, Missouri.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
