Ruby Perkins

Ruby E. Perkins, 84, of Pineville, MO passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in Joplin, Missouri.

Ruby was born May 21, 1931 in Granby, Missouri to William (Bill) and Bulah (Bootsie) Walker Thomas. Both proceded her in death. Ruby had a brother Gaylord Thomas and a sister Ylene Harper that proceded her in death.

When Ruby was 18 she moved to Colorado to help her sister with her children. Ruby was working as a waitress in Colorado when she met and fell in love with George Burhenn. They married in Ratone, New Mexico in 1949. In this marriage they had two daughters, Yolanda Richie and Rochelle Milbourn. George and Ruby moved back to Missouri where she worked in the Newton County Clerk office and later together they milked cows. In 1963 George died leaving Ruby to raise their two young girls. During this time, Ruby worked at the Granby Maufacturing CO. Then in 1965 she met and married her second husband Lloyd Perkins and was blessed to become the mother to Lloyd’s twin daughters, Connie Miller and Bonnie Boyd. Lloyd proceeded her in death in 1994.

In Ruby’s life she held many more jobs. After 30 years out of school she went to the Missouri Police Academy at Missouri Southern and became a Reserve Deputy for Newton County, McDonald County, and the City of Pineville. For many years Ruby worked at Cooper's Country Market in Pineville, after retiring from Cooper's, she later came to work at Green Meadows. At Green Meadows Ruby cooked, cleaned and helped take care of the 9 men in the group home. Ruby retired from Green Meadows in 2012. Ruby was blessed to inherit another family, through Green Meadows. Sharon Davis’s Family became like family to her during her time there. During Ruby’s life she was loved by many throughout the community and some often referred to her as Mom or even Grandma.

Ruby attended Hilltop Mission until her illness prevented her from regular attendance.

Ruby is survived by her daughters; Yolanda Richie and husband Allen of Hiwasse, AR., Rochelle Milbourn of Pineville and friend Bert of Rogers, AR, Connie Miller and husband Ed of Goodman, Bonnie Boyd and husband Marvin of Lebanon, MO, Grandson Ryan Studdard and wife Bahar of Carl Junction, Grandson Nicholas Wommack and wife Katie of Reeds, MO, Granddaughter Julie Huston and husband Ryan of Anderson, Kendra Tolliver and fiancée Ira Lee of Pineville, Grandson Curtis Miller and wife Pam of Stella, MO , Granddaughter Christine Lehar and husband Todd of Granby, MO, Granddaughter LeAnn Presley and husband Mike of Harrison, AR, Granddaughter Loree Carver and husband Todd of Victoria, Texas, Granddaughter DeAnna Hames and husband Brent of Neosho, MO, Grandson Steven Boyd and wife Lisa of Lebanon, MO, Granddaughter Linda Dozer and husband Dennis of Lebanon, MO, Grandson James Boyd and wife Stacy of Lebanon, MO. Ruby is also survieved by 28 Great Grandchildren and 12 Great- Great-Grandchildren. Ruby is survived by many loving Neices, Nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Perkins will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00a.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson with Pastor Scott Leonard officiating. Her grandsons, Ryan Huston, Ryan Studdard, Nick Wommack, Curtis Miller, Steven Boyd and James Boyd will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Sunday October 2, 2015 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the Ozark Funeral Home. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website www.ozarkfuneralhome.com.
