James (Jim) Leroy Wallace, age 76, passed away at his home in Webb City, surrounded by his family on February 1, 2018.
He was born in his hometown on January 11, 1942 to Myrtle Virginia (Miller) Wallace and Leonard Leroy Wallace. Jim graduated from Carterville High School in 1960 and joined the naval reserves. He served active duty in Pearl Harbor.
On October 17, 1963 he married his high-school sweetheart Jean Louise Johnson. He spent most of his career as a land surveyor, retiring after 16 years of service as the Public Works Director for the City of Webb City.His favorite hobbies were fishing, golfing and going to Webb City High School football games.
He is survived by his children Ron Wallace (wife Beckie) Brenda Phillips, Teresa Van Becelaere (husband Eric) and his sister Shirlene Osborne (husband Don). He has five grandchildren and 3 great grand-children.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. The family will be present for a visitation on Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
