Rick Mize

Mr. Rick S. Mize, 67, of Sarcoxie, Missouri passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

Rick was born on December 21, 1950 in Lenexa, Kansas to the late Richard and Eleanora (Fausett) Mize. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern California. Rick proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After living in California and Kansas City he settled in Sarcoxie, Missouri where he resided for more than thirty years. He was a retired sales manager for Tri State Advertising. On September 28, 2001 he was united in marriage to Marsha Childress. While living in Sarcoxie, he served with the Sarcoxie Sentinels and volunteered at the Sarcoxie Police Department. He also was a member of the Emergency Management Services, and would direct helicopter landings at the football field, as well as sounding the tornado alarms for the city. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, watching football, bar-b-cues and spending time with family and friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Wealot; two brothers, Dick Mize and Mike Mize; one uncle, Perry LaRue.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha, of the home; four children, Stephen Wealot and wife, Christina of Quapaw, Oklahoma, Tina Norman and husband, Paul, of Orange, Texas, Eric Hamby of Joplin, Missouri, and Craig Hamby of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren, Codie Jones, Dakota Jones, Lexus Edwards and Ashley Jones; two great-grandchildren, Courtney Wealot and Ricki Wealot; one brother, Doug Mize and one sister; Becky Chatlos; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Mize are 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Sarcoxie Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Richard Vaughn, Mike Coin, Curtis Lynch, Jeffrey Culver, Scott Price and Lars Ramsey. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Sagesar and Tony Perkins. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. on Friday prior to the service. Memorial contributions are being directed to Marsha Mize in care of the funeral home.
