Gladys Cunningham

Gladys Frances (Baker) Cunningham, age 97, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at the Manor at Elfindale in Springfield, Missouri. She was born April 1, 1925, to Amos Alfred Baker and Frances Mildred (Laub) Baker in Carthage, Missouri.

Gladys graduated from Jasper High School in 1943. She and her husband, Chester Carl Cunningham, were united in marriage on January 2, 1946, in Columbus, Kansas. To this union were two sons, Carl L. Cunningham, and Glen D. Cunningham.








They lived in Jasper, Missouri from 1946 until 1952. They moved to Greenfield, Missouri in 1952 until 1957. They moved to Mount Vernon, Missouri in February of 1957. 

Gladys worked as a bookkeeper for MFA for numerous years and subsequently worked at Mid-America Dental and Hearing Clinic for 20+ years. She retired at the age of 85. She was an active chartered member of the Mount Vernon Christian Church.

Gladys is survived by her two sons, Carl (Synthia) Cunningham of Magna, Utah and Glen (Sharon) Cunningham of Katy, Texas; six grandchildren, Julia Jane (Eric) Winslow of South Jordan, Utah, Jeffrey Carl Cunningham (Sarah Wealton) of Salt Lake City, Utah, James Joseph (Caroline) Cunningham of Sudbury, Massachusetts, Jonah Ches Cunningham of Washington, DC, Kristen Marie Cunningham of Houston, Texas and Caleb Glen Cunningham of Katy, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Kennedy Susan Wealton, Mackenzie Maya Winslow, Hyrum Eric Winslow, Elisabeth Esther Winslow, Caroline Cami Winslow, Ammon Alexander Winslow and Joseph James Cunningham; her sister, Wilma (Valgene) Hart of Springfield, Missouri; sister-in-law, Nancy Catherine Baker of Carthage, Missouri, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.








Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, of 49 years in 1995, her parents, her two sisters, Esther Wilson, and Martha Buster and two brothers, Donald Baker, and Leonard Baker.

A visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made payable to the Mount Vernon Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
