Norma Smith

Norma J. Smith, age 90, of Grove, OK passed away on Sunday July, 17, 2022, after a short illness.

Norma was born on December 19, 1931 to Eugene and Bertha (Waddle) Goodman in Poteau, OK, where she grew up and attended Tarby High School. She later went on to attend Poteau Junior College.

Norma was a hardworking, capable woman and worked in bookkeeping for F.L. Holton Catttle Company, the Senator Kerr Foundation and the IRS. She also worked in advertising for Channel 5 News out of Fort Smith, AR. She was employed into her 70’s until her health would no longer allow.

 
In 2017, Norma moved to Grove from Yucaipa, CA to be near family and enjoyed an active life while living at Baptist Village Honey Creek. She was fun loving, caring and made everyone around her feel at ease. She was a devoted mother and adoring grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Rose and granddaughter, Tina.

Left to cherish Norma’s memory, children: Gene Kirkley (Donna) of Grove and Debbie Rollins (Randy) all of Grove, Susan Cory (Doug) of Southwest City, MO and Bobby Kirkley (Patricia) of Ft. Smith, AR; sisters, Madge Nelson of Quinton, OK, Billie Gammell of Disney, OK and Mary Rasmussen of Louisiana and one brother, Jimmy Ratteree of Ft Gibson, OK, 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held by the family at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Nichols-Stephens Funeral & Cremation Services.
