(From Parker Mortuary)Larry Randle Wood, age 75, of Carl Junction, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at his home.
Larry, son of the late Helen Marie (Shellenbarger) and Thurman Riggs, was born on February 25, 1947 in Canyon City, Colorado. He grew up and attended school in Colorado, later owning and operating his own construction company.
On May 23, 2016 in Colorado Springs, he was united in marriage to Rosalee Taylor. Soon after they moved to Carl Junction to be closer to family.
Larry was an award-winning team roper and horseman. He later used his talent to spread the love of Jesus Christ to others by ministering at the rodeos he attended and at several Cowboy Churches in Colorado.
After moving to Missouri, Larry worked on his cattle farm with his two horses and his little dog. Larry was a kind, loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalee Wood, of Carl Junction; one son, Bryan Wood, of Montana; additional children, Doug Thornton, and his wife, Daylene, of Oologah, OK, Kevin Thornton, and his wife, Devon, of Carl Junction, and Amy Carpenter, and her husband, Brian, of Afton, OK; his brothers, Rusty Riggs, and his wife, Cheryl, of Sedalia, CO, Willie Wood, of WA, Dickie Wood, of CO, Jack Wood, of Kansas, and Steven Wood; sisters, Patricia Heacock, of CA, Gail Shumay, of CO, and Dixie Garner, of AZ; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a little dog.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Pamela Wood, Rebecca Lease, and Timothy Wood.
