John Milton Getzelman, 72, of Reeds, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020 in the comfort of his home
John was born on September 19, 1947 in Elgin, Illinois, to the union of the late Robert Milton and Adeline Mable (Sodman) Getzelman. After graduation he later earned his associates degree. On December 1, 2004 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Weisensee in Carthage, Missouri. For several years he worked for Butterball in Carthage. John was a man of many talents. He was a well-known plumber and carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith, and was the spiritual leader of his family. He enjoyed gardening, farming, and reading, as well as spending time with his family. He will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Nancy J. (Chizawsky) Getzelman.
John is survived by his wife, Marilyn Getzelman; children, Lloyd Getzelman of Pahrump, Nevada, Heather Stanwick (Bert Uitts), of Reeds, Missouri, Andy Getzelman, of Shattuck, Oklahoma, and Jonathan Getzelman (LeAnn) of Reeds, Missouri; seven grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; brother, Clayton R. Getzelman, of Momence, Illinois; two nieces; one nephew; numerous step children; and several step grandchildren; step great- grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, private family services are being held.
Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Lloyd Getzelman, Andy Getzelman, John Getzelman, Jes Stanwick, Bert Uitts and Luke Uitts.
