Robert Oscar Braunschweig, Sr., 94, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
Robert was born on September 2, 1925 in Watertown, Wisconsin to the late, August and Amanda (Schultz) Braunschweig. He grew up on a farm in Burnett, Wisconsin, moving to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin when he was 10 years old.
Robert worked at a bakery and painted big barns. He joined the United States Navy in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946, proudly serving our country in WW11.
Robert met Elaine Gertrude Mann at a dance and they were married on October 1, 1949. They resided in California until 1960, where he worked for Kaiser Steel. They moved to Missouri in 1960. He worked for Vickers in Joplin, Missouri and then he went into the meat processing business until he retired in 1990. Robert was a member of the VFW in Neosho, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers and three sisters.
Robert is survived by his children, Robert Oscar Braunschweig, Jr. and wife, Ruth of Neosho, Missouri, Sharon Rose Morgan and husband, Jimmie of Goodman, Missouri and Sandra Rae Gibson and husband, Randall of Bixby, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren, Teresa Braunschweig, Chris Morgan, Dustin Hansen, Robbie Braunschweig, Shaun Hansen, Andrew Braunschweig; 13 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss Robert.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at the Howard Cemetery in Goodman, Missouri. Pastor Shannon Cobb will officiate.
