(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Marilyn Joan Morris, age 85, passed away at 12:30 pm, Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Galena Nursing and Rehab Center, Galena, KS following an illness.
Joan was born December 9, 1934 in Columbus, KS, the daughter of Dale and Ressie (Angel) Leas.
She married Gerald Morris on August 1, 1952. They were married for 25 years.
Joan worked as a stay-at-home mom, a Girl Scout volunteer, an emergency dispatcher, and later as a certified nurse aide until her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Roberta Boyer, daughter, Edie Morris, and grandson Eric Morris.
Survivors include her sister, Betty Goff, Riverton, KS; her daughters, Joleen Murray, Joplin, MO, and Lorna Morris. Oswego, KS; her son, David and wife Jennifer Morris, Hollister, MO; granddaughters, Melissa Morris, Melanie Rhinehart, Tiffany Isnard; grandsons, Dustin Combs, and Chris Comb; six great-granddaughters, five great-grandsons, and many nieces and nephews.
She was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation.
The family will host a private memorial service at a later time.
