Betty Long

Mrs. Betty Ruth Long, 90, of Oronogo, Missouri, a lifelong area resident, departed this life on Tuesday morning, November 1, 2022, at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long battel with her health.

Betty entered this life on May 17, 1932, in Webb City, Missouri, daughter of the late George Raymond and Nellie (Tate) Ivy. 

On June 7, 1968, she was united in marriage to Linden Long and together they shared twenty-three years before his passing on March 13, 1992. 









Besides being a devoted homemaker, Betty also worked several years at Rex Metallic Casket Company in Webb City. She enjoyed arranging flowers, cooking and spending time in her garden.




She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Linden Long; her daughter, Leesa Hedgecorth; two granddaughters, Valarie Hedgecorth and Terri Macias; and a brother, Paul Ivy.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Debra Joy Mahurin and husband, Rick, of Webb City; four grandchildren, Vanessa Mahurin, Brenda Dalton, Leslee Mahurin and Glinda Smith; seventeen great grandchildren; fifteen great-great grandchildren; four stepchildren, Judy Bainter of Gladstone, Missouri, Linda Friden of Liberal, Missouri, Sue Rose of Grove, Oklahoma and Dayton Long of Wyandotte, Oklahoma; seven step-grandchildren; and several step great and great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.








Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2022, at Oronogo Cemetery with Pastor Joe Morris officiating. 

Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers Brice Griffin, Ryan Mahurin, Kyle Farmer, Braxton Baker, Chris Faircloth and Camern Baker. 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.
