(From Midland Cremation Society)Bonnie Sitton Weston, a lifelong resident of Joplin and Webb City, Missouri, passed away at Freeman Hospital on Saturday, November 5th, 2022, at seventy-three years old.
Born on October 28th, 1949 in Coffeyville, Kansas to parents Kenneth and Mildred (Luney) Sitton, Bonnie was an avid learner and humanitarian. Having earned her GED, a bachelor's degree in education, and a graduate degree in counseling and guidance, she dedicated thirty years of her life to Joplin R-8 schools as a special education teacher and counselor, where she touched the lives of many students.
Bonnie was a devoted volunteer at the Lafayette House, where she provided emergency services to people in crisis.
She is survived by her son, David Weston, and his wife, Michelle Weston, four grandchildren Zach, Drew, Mark, and Allison, her three nieces and their families; Teri Slater and Julie Wilton, and her dearest friend and companion, Phil Doran.
She was preceded in death by her sister Patsy Summers, brother Richard Sitton and his wife Debbie, and niece Kelly Melugin. Bonnie was blessed with friends and family whom she dearly loved, and some have already welcomed her into heaven with their warm embrace.
The family will host a memorial service on November 19th, 2022 at one pm at Webb City Church of the Nazarene. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to The Lafayette House at lafayettehouse.org
