(From Parker Mortuary)Mr. Dustin James Gilpin, 49, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life suddenly on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at his residence, of an apparent heart attack.
Dustin entered this life on September 13, 1973, in Joplin, Missouri, born to the union of Charles “Chick” and Sara Ann (Neeley) Gilpin. He was raised in Carl Junction, Missouri and was a 1991 graduate of Carl Junction High School, where he was State Wrestling Champ his Senior year.
He furthered his education by receiving an associates degree in business from Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas. In his younger years he assisted his family in the operation of Video East & West in Joplin. He worked several years remolding Lowes Stores for Tab Merchandising before his nine-year career with Turbo Supply in Joplin, where he currently served as night supervisor. He enjoyed being outdoors either hunting or fishing and spending time being a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, Roy and Esther Gilpin and Richard and Helen Neeley.
Dustin is survived by his parents, Sara Gilpin of Joplin and Chick Gilpin of Diamond; a brother, Jason Gilpin also of Joplin; two nephews, Keeton and Kaden Gilpin; a niece, Courtney Been; one great niece, Taylin Hayward; two cousins, Richard Neeley of Joplin and Beverly Walker of Galena, Kansas; as well as numerous friends and coworkers who will dearly miss him.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, November 9, 2022, from 5-6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, with a brief memorial service to begin at 6:30 p.m. with Keith Sampson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin.
