(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Maria Emma Moreno Chavez, 84, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Emma was born on January 16, 1938, to Leandro Moreno and Manuela Valencia in Santa Anna, El Salvador. She had 14 siblings and was the oldest of four daughters.
Emma loved to hand stitch and make pillows and listening to and singing hymns. She enjoyed celebrations and making others feel special. She loved God and loved bringing others to Jesus.
Emma was joined in marriage by Luis Santana Chavez, he was the love of her life. He passed away at a young age in 1981.
She is survived by two sons, Nelson Omar Chavez, and Adoni Oseas Chavez; two daughters, Ada Nelly Chavez, and Myra Lorena Chavez; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held for Emma from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Iglesia de Christo El Jubileo in Carthage, Missouri. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Iglesia de Christo El Jubileo in Carthage, Missouri. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
