Christina Rhymer

(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)

Christina Eck-Rhymer, surrounded by her family, was welcomed home to the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2023.

Christina was born on May 25, 1972. She attended Sarcoxie High School (Class of 1990) and Missouri Southern State University (Class of 1994).

Christina was united in marriage to Jerry Rhymer on July 20, 1996, in Sarcoxie Missouri. Together they made a house a home with plenty of smiles and laughter, raising their three children, Logan, Emilee, and Hannah.

Many will remember Christina as Mrs. Rhymer, as she touched so many through her years as a public educator. Her love for literature resonated throughout lessons, whether it was reenacting William Shakespeare, Animal Farm, or capturing years of memories through sponsoring yearbook.

Christina took joy in photographing all the spins and turns of her daughters Emilee and Hannah throughout their years of dance. Christina also spent several evenings and weekends encouraging Logan’s love of music, from marching band competitions to purchasing his first guitar.

Christina’s favorite activities were taking road trips and stopping at any roadside or out-of-the[1]way obscurity with “world-renowned” advertised on a sign pointing the way. Her hobbies included: collecting Snoopy memorabilia, hunting down rare Pez dispensers, reading and collecting books, and decorating for each holiday not only the home but also her disagreeable pup, Tank, much to his chagrin.

Christina is survived by her husband, Jerry, and her children, Logan Rhymer, Emilee Rhymer, and Hannah Rhymer of Salina, Oklahoma. Her survivors also include her father, Peter Eck of Sarcoxie, MO; siblings: Michael Eck of Ozark, MO, Kandace Logan (Steve) of Miller, MO, and Troy Royko (Susan) of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Her chosen family includes Patricia Woods of Joplin, MO, Karita Kamari of Finland, Fabi Aus of Germany (and mother Martina), Alonso Bear of Mexico, Kushtrim Sujemani of Macedonia, and Natchanan Buapin of Thailand. Her survivors also include nieces and nephews, Anthony (Lauren) Eck, Skylar (Ryan) Sitton, Rebecca Eck, Timothy (Patty) Arr, Savannah Gibson, Alexandria Gibson, KC Logan, and Hayden Logan, as well as great nieces and nephews, Sydney, Madysyn, Braydyn, Daxton, Grayson, Arabella, and August.

Her mother, Deborah Kay Eck, her grandparents, Lois and Frank Eck, Olive and Sterling King, great nephew Breckin, and Stripey, the OSP, preceded her in death.

A Rosary service will be at St. Marks in Pryor, OK, on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 6:30 pm. There will be a private family funeral mass later in the week. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made to Gavin Beaver Memorial Foundation, Children's Fund (beav08). Two ways to donate: [1].
