Keith “Elvis” Rooks, age 70, of Joplin, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023, at his home.
Keith, known by friends as “Elvis,” was born on November 21, 1952, in Galena, KS to the late Herbert and Dorothy (Griffith) Rooks. He moved to Kansas City at a young age with family and was employed with Comet Industries in Kansas City until his retirement.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Rooks in 1976 in Kansas City. She preceded him in death in July of 2003.
Keith was a loving and faithful friend and brother to many. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. He had a passion for music and loved to sing Elvis songs at Karaoke. Keith enjoyed performing and serenading Elvis’s songs so much he would often fluff up his sideburns and perform in Elvis attire at many gatherings and social events.
Survivors include his siblings, Herbert Edward Rooks, and his wife, Lana, of Joplin, and Elissa Mosley, and her husband, David, of Lowry City; special friends, Valerie Osborne and Randy Jordan, of Carl Junction; granddaughter, Jonna Martin, and her husband, Daniel, of Windsor; nieces, Diana Morrel, and her husband, John, of Miami, Deloris Grinder, of Neosho, and Tracy Runyon, and her husband, Jason, of Kentucky; and several extended family members. In addition to his parents and wife, Keith was preceded in death by siblings, Terry (Rooks) Duncan, Jerry Rooks, and Vicky Jo (Rooks) Dukes.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin with burial to follow at Forest Park Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 11:00 AM until service time on Thursday.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
