(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Wanda York, 91, of Carthage, MO, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Oak Pointe of Carthage. Wanda was born August 29, 1931, in Walnut Grove, Mo, the daughter of Bonnie Lee Stokes and Lydia Young Stokes. Wanda had lived her adult life in the southwest Missouri area.
She retired from the former St. John’s Hospital (now Mercy) as a Dietician. Wanda was a member of Fairview Christian Church of Carthage and still exercising as a member of the Y.M.C.A.
Wanda was united in marriage to Orville Dean York on October 11, 1948, in Las Vegas, NV. Orville preceded her in death on February 7, 2017.
Wanda is survived by two sons, Tom York (Christine) of Carthage, MO and Bill (Pam) Adkins of Miami, OK, and one daughter, Cindy Hartman (Neysa) of New Florence, MO., two brothers, Efton Stokes, and Charlie Stokes and one sister, Ruth Stokes Blevins. Four Grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Perry Stokes, Ralph Stokes, Joe Stokes and two sisters, Ruby Stokes Foss, and Mary Stokes.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2023, at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Online condolences maybe sent at www.ulmerfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ulmer Funeral Home.
