(From Walnut Lawn Funeral Home)Franklin Dale Gilmore, age 87, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away July 5, 2022, in Springfield, Missouri.
Franklin was born in Neosho, Missouri, to Franklin C. Gilmore and Faye Oleta (Stephenson) on February 11, 1935.
He attended High School in Brownsville, Texas. Frank went on to join the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country as an aircraft mechanic for 21 years. After retiring from the United States Air Force, Frank worked for Mutual of Omaha and Reliable Chevrolet.
Frank married the love of his life Carline Sue (Baker) Gilmore November 25, 2002.
He is survived by his wife Caroline Gilmore; son, Bruce Gilmore and wife Kaye; Sister Nancy Ethridge and her husband Gerry Ethridge; Sister Diana Clarke; stepson, Matt Wren and wife Tanya Wren; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and many family members and friends.
Frank’s parents and brother, Alan Gilmore and son Vincent Gilmore precede him in death.
Frank had an amazing sense of humor and enjoyed being outside, gardening and at one time, farming.
He enjoyed watching military documentaries on the history channel and making things in his workshop.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 11, 2022, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, Missouri. Services will follow at 12:30 PM. Burial will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Frank’s memory to the local Disabled Veterans (DAV) or charity of choice.
Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. – DeGraffenreid-Wood-Crematory, Springfield, Missouri.
