Ida Standlee

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Ida Belle Hester Standlee, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, born on September 21, 1925, died on November 18, 2014 at the age of 89.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Ervin Standlee; three sons, Russell (Lucille) Standlee of Kansas City, MO; James (Sue) Standlee of Neosho, MO; Dwight Standlee of Wichita, KS and one daughter, Jeanne (Greg) Foster of Tecumseh, KS; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Zachariah and Fannie (Kuder) Hester; two sisters, Mary and Goldie; four brothers, Henry, Abner, Marion and Carl and one great grandson, Colton James Standlee.

Having not completed her senior year of high school, Ida went back to school, September 1962 and graduated, May 1963. She made all A’s except for one B+ and finished at the top of her graduating class. Ida worked at several occupations. She felt her most important role was that of a minister’s wife and help-mate, serving at times as the church secretary and Sunday school teacher. Ida was a voracious reader, loved playing Bible trivia and vocabulary games. She loved flowers and watching birds. Her family considered her to be an excellent cook and they inherited her love of eating good food. Going to places where she had never been with her family was a delight to her. Gospel music soothed and enriched her spirit.
