Leo Eurit

Leo Leslie Eurit Jr., 86, of Pittsburg, passed away at 6:05 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at the Oakview Estates, Frontenac.

 He was born, August 7, 1928, at Coin, AR, to Leo L. and Grace (Allinder) Eurit Sr. Les grew up in Fairview and Neosho, MO. As a boy, he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball and did a lot of fishing with his dad. Les graduated from Neosho High School on May 17, 1946. He also attended the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, in Rolla, MO. Les enlisted in the United States Air Force, on August 27, 1946, and was Honorably Discharged in 1948. He worked as a Brakeman for the Kansas City Southern Railroad, Fadler’s Produce Inc., of Pittsburg, KS, and as a Letter Carrier for 25 years for the United States Post Office.

 On October 26, 1958, Les was united in marriage to Betty Ruth Norris, at the First Christian Church, in Pittsburg, KS. She preceded him in death on June 17, 2009. Les was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, men’s softball league, and Grace United Methodist Church. His hobbies included taking “little drives”, traveling, golf, and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball. In retirement, he worked as a driver for Pittsburg Transportation. 

Les is survived by a son, Rev. Michael Eurit, and wife, Joyce, of Salina, KS; a daughter, Lisa Foreman, and husband, Dr. Tom Foreman, of Copan, OK; a sister, Carol Eurit Ellis, and husband, Leonard, of Stillwater, OK; two grandsons; Alex and Colin Eurit, of Salina, KS; two granddaughters; Sarah Eurit, of Salina, KS, and Grace Foreman, of Copan, OK, and dear friend, Ruth Hendrickson of Pittsburg, KS, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Ronald Eurit, of Carthage, MO. 

A service is set for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014, at the Grace United Methodist Church, with Reverend Glen Duderstadt officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the Grace United Methodist Church. The family suggests memorials to the Grace United Methodist Church. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
