Shelley Windal

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Shelley Ada Windal blessed this earth on March 7, 1951 in Seattle, Washington. She, her parents, Donald Oliver and Ada Retha Pickens Windal and sister, Sharon Suzanne Windal lived in Seattle until 1958, when Ada accepted a teaching position on the Navajo Reservation in Fruitland, New Mexico.

Shelley graduated from Central High School in Kirtland, New Mexico in 1969. She attended New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico where in 1976, she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Therapy and in 1977, her Master of Special Education Degree. The call of the wild enticed her to Bethel, Alaska, where she worked as an elementary teacher from 1978 to 1997, when she retired early to care for her parents in Bellevue, Washington.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister. Shelley is survived by her aunt, Ethel Marinelle of Goodman and many cousins from Washington, Oregon, Missouri and Alabama as well as a wealth of family and friends. Shelley will always be remembered as a kind and welcome heart blessed with a generous soul and an abiding love of family and friends. Her presence in our lives will be deeply missed each day that is lived without her wit, laughter and indomitable spirit of love. In speaking with her aunt, Ethel, she said, ‘I am satisfied I will make this transition and be with my father, mother and sister. I am not afraid, I believe in our eternal life together.
