Susan Lovette

(From Ulmer Funeral Home)

Susan Diane Michael Lovette passed away November 14, 2014 at her home in Carthage. Though she did not win her fight against lung cancer, she did surpass her goal of living until her 56th birthday in October – seven months longer than the life expectancy.

Susan was full of life and energy. She believed whether at work or play you should make it fun and enjoyable. To her, laughter was the best medicine and she often stated, “It’s hard to be stressed out when you’re laughing.” Whether sharing one of her jokes, stories, or even just sharing her views on life events, she always had that beautiful smile. She enjoyed being around people and they her. Asked many times how she could still be so bright and cheery while being so ill, she always answered, “Because I have all my peeps around me and God’s blessings. Good Times.”

Susan was born in Carthage to Harold and Janice Michael. She will be greatly missed by her loving son and best friend John A. Lovette; cherished grandchildren Lauryn Lovette and Avry Lovette; mother Janice Michael; sisters Vicki Cash (John); Peggy Feather (Conrad); and Sally Lee (Jeff); her life companion Durrel Geist; two nieces and two nephews; and her many treasured friends and coworkers. Susan was preceded in death by her father Harold Michael and daughter-in-law Trisha Hamilton Lovette. Susan attended Carthage High School and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Joplin. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed working at Lowe’s in Carthage. Creative, adventurous and resourceful, Susan enjoyed painting, beading, collecting antique toys, hunting and fishing, and tackling home-improvement and various other projects. The family extends their gratitude to Hospice Compassus and Susan’s loving friends and caregivers Cheri McPherson and Susan Begley.

A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday November 22 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Contributions can be made to the Shriner’s Children Hospital of St Louis in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
