Mary Kunze

Mary Elizabeth Kunze, 90, passed away November 6, 2014 with her loving family by her side. Mary was born January 9, 1924 to Justin and Martha Franken. She was predeceased by her parents, three sisters, Lucille Edgington, Dena Blockwitz, Gertrude Bock and three brothers, Frank Klimpt, Albert Klimpt, and Bennie Klimpt. She is survived by her sister, Theresa Capps.

Mary was married to Ernie Kunze for 64 years. Ernie passed away in 2012. Mary is survived by her two daughters, Ann Murray of Webb City and Linda Randall of Joplin and her son David of Branson. Mary has six grandchildren, Jennifer Rhodey and Jason Hampshire of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Sean Randall of Lamar, Ritchie Randall of Joplin, Angela Edmondson of Davidson, North Carolina and Kory Kunze of Webster Groves, Missouri. She also has fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mary was born and raised in Joplin and resided there her entire life. She attended St. Peter’s grade school and later became a licensed hair stylist. She practiced her profession for 37 years and many of her patrons became lifelong friends. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Mary was a woman who always placed faith and family first. Both Mary and Ernie set an excellent example for their children by working hard to provide them with a quality education and a wonderful life.

Mary’s two favorite leisure time activities were working in her yard, which was always manicured, and cheering for her beloved St. Louis Cardinal Baseball team.

Anyone who knew Mary would all agree, she was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Joplin, Missouri with Father Justin Monaghan officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. On-line condolences may be sent to the family though the website www.thornhilldillon.com

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Schools Building Fund.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
