Ed Clemons

Mr. Clarence Edward “Ed” Clemons, Sr., 83, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, in the comfort of his home after a recent battle with cancer.

Ed entered this life on July 3, 1937, in Webb City, Missouri, son of the late Donald Edward and Ethel Mae (Barnes) Clemons. He was a lifelong area resident. 

He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy from October of 1955 until his honorable discharge on September 16, 1959. Ed was a craftsman by trade specializing in furniture and cabinet making. He was employed by Dawson Furniture, Grant Cabinet, Morton Booth and Kroehler Cabinet. He enjoyed time spent outdoors. He was an avid gardener and used his talents as groundskeeper at Beechwood Acres.








He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Gwen Clemons; two brothers, Leonard and Paul Clemons; and two sisters, Shirley Tandy-Steverson and Dorothy Tandy.

Ed is survived by his wife, Connie Clemons of the home; two children, Ed Clemons, Jr. of Oronogo and Teresa Spencer and husband, Donald, of Joplin; two step-children, Angela Sell and husband, Jeff, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Curtis Vest of Carthage; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two brothers, David Clemons of Chelsea, Oklahoma and Phillip Clemons of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services with full military honors are 12:00 noon on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin with Pastor Ralph Shead officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Bill Tandy, Mike Tandy, Marty Tandy, Craig Clark, Jeff Sell and Danny Hollingshead. Arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City.
