(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)Mr. Jimmie Lee Huff, Sr., 70, of Stotts City, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, September 6, 2020, in the comfort of his home.
Jimmie enter this life on November 19, 1949 in Joplin, Missouri, son of the late Edgar Clinton and Dorothy Marie (Pope) Huff. He was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and attended Missouri Southern in Joplin, Missouri.
On June 5, 1971, he was united in marriage to Linda Sue Sommer. Together they shared forty-nine years. He proudly served in the United States Army. Jimmie was a machinist by trade, working for Eagle Picher, FAG Bearing, Steadley’s and Schreiber’s. He also spent many years in the trucking business as well as being engaged in full time farming including the operation of his dairy. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge of Sarcoxie. He loved spoiling his grandchildren, farming, cows, his shop and attending farm fest.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, George Huff; brother, Johnny Huff; and four brothers-in-law, Jim Merritt, Jim Taylor, Joe Garza and Randall Stirewalt.
Jimmie is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; his children, Jimmie L. Huff, Jr., and wife, Rachel, of Stotts City, and Julie Powell and husband, Luke, of Webb City; grandchildren, Chelsea McMillion and husband, Trenton, Cody Huff and fiancĂ©’, Liz Wilson, Chasity Brazee and husband, Ethan, Brock Mettlach, Crenton Huff and Jaylee Huff; great-grandchildren, Adley McMillion and Brenton Huff; siblings, Ellen Merritt, Phyllis Stirewalt, Colleen Enochs and husband, Rodney, JoAnn Brown and husband, David and Mary Jane Lockhart, and husband, John; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services with full military honors are 12:00 noon on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Union Cemetery in Stotts City, Missouri with Pastor Eric Roach officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Jimmie L. Huff, Jr., Cody Huff, Luke Powell, Brock Mettlach, Trenton McMillion, Kenlee Calvin, Ed Sommer and Thomas Garza. Honorary pallbearers are Crenton Huff, Brenton Huff and George Merritt. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
