Bob Patterson

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Robert (Bad Bob) Lee Patterson of Joplin Mo passed away on Wednesday November 2nd at home following a courageous 7-month battle with cancer.

Bob was born on January 23rd 1952 in Joplin Mo., the son of the late Archie and Katherine (O’Hara) Patterson. He worked as an over the road truck driver his entire life, at one point, owning his own fleet of trucks.

If you ever met Bob you had an instant friend for life. He never met a stranger. He took great pride in keeping his lawn picture perfect and loved mowing it. It was his happy place.

He spent years enjoying trail rides with his friends and family and he loved his weekly “town hall meetings” which were just an excuse to gather, pick the guitar and sing, eat food, and have a few drinks. He was the good time guy and one of a kind. The last twelve years he spent his days with his best friend and fur child Chumly and he will miss him maybe more than any human.

He spent the last 34 years devoted to the love of his life and soulmate Patty Torix and she survives. Additional survivors include one daughter; Melissa Taylor. One son; Robert Butler and wife Kelly. Three brothers; Steve Patterson and wife Sharon, Tim Patterson and girlfriend Malaine, Jim Patterson, and wife Kelly. Two sisters; Kathy Webster and husband Danny and Patty Nelson. He is also survived but three grandsons; Kade Taylor and girlfriend Kyndall, Kole Taylor, and Zach Butler and wife Melissa. He also has many surviving nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his brother, Tom Patterson, whom many considered the other pea in his pod.

We cannot really love anybody with whom we never laugh, and we sure did laugh.

A Memorial Service will be held at Mason-Woodard Chapel Tuesday at 2pm. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
