Jim Morgan

Jim Lee Morgan of Granby, Missouri, formerly of Fairview, Missouri, passed away from heart failure at 4:05 pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. 

Jim was born on May 10, 1944, in Fairview, Missouri, to Charles Lawrence and Bessie Viola (Blanke) Morgan. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1962. 

Jim married Sharon Kay Jones on August 31, 1963, in Neosho, Missouri. He was a member of Mount Hope Church of Christ in Webb City, Missouri.








Jim spent most of his working years as a self-employed residential building contractor, sometimes designing the houses in addition to building them. He built approximately 60 houses in all. He was also a Surge dairy equipment dealer and a grocery store owner off and on throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s, working alongside Sharon.

Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon; two daughters: Brenda Stokes and husband Michael of Tucson, Arizona, and Lynnette Stokes and husband Robert of Carl Junction, Missouri; six grandchildren: Jessica Stokes and husband Jacob Zbesko of San Diego, California, Andrew Stokes of Springdale, Arkansas, Elizabeth Stokes of Tucson, Arizona, Steven Stokes and wife Christina of Joplin, Missouri, Adam Stokes of Webb City, Missouri, and Ashley Stokes of Carl Junction, Missouri, and her fiancé, Ryan Dean of Carl Junction, Missouri; one brother: Junior Morgan and wife Bettie of Stella, Missouri; and one sister: Marie Coleman of Monroe, Washington.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Linda Schoonover.

A service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022, at 10:30 am at Mount Hope Church of Christ in Webb City, Missouri.
