Debbie Howerton

Deborah Sue Howerton (Smith) of Carthage passed away peacefully in her home on October 22nd at the age of 67. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother.

Debbie was born on October 13, 1955, in Higginsville, Missouri as the third child to Junior Paul and Laurene Smith (Ford.) She was a graduate of Lafayette County C-1 High School.

Debbie resided primarily in Carthage, Missouri, where she raised her two children. Her faith and family were the focus of her life. Her joy was her four grandchildren. She loved them with all her heart and was a constant encouragement as they have grown older.








Debbie is preceded in death by her parents.

Debbie is survived by her husband Don, of the home, one son, Rock (Jessica) Schaller, one daughter, Claycie (Scott) Gerlt, and four grandchildren; Caleb and Avery Schaller and Maddie and Hudson Gerlt. Debbie is also survived by one sister; Bette (Steve) Brown, and two brothers; Bob (Lisa) Smith, Brent (Christine) Smith, and her favorite great niece, Tori.








Her husband Don would like to extend a thank you to all the Doctors, Nurses, and staff for the care of Debbie. Also, a special thank you to the infusion nurses at Freeman West for their care of Debbie these past several years.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
