Larry Stogsdill

Larry E. Stogsdill, 78 of North Miami, passed away Nov. 3, 2022 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO after a long illness.

He was born August 3, 1944 in Miami, OK to W.P. and Faye (Neal) Stogsdill. Larry had lived in North Miami for over 75 years. He attended North Miami and Commerce Schools and graduated with the class of 1962. 

He married Zelpha Louise Barton on July 24, 1965. 








Larry worked for B.F. Goodrich for 18 years until its closure. He later worked for Ottawa County District 1 road crew and was Head Jailer for Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. He coached youth Baseball and Football in Commerce and umpired when he wasn’t coaching. He served several years on the City Council in North Miami.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gerald Stogsdill, and two sisters, Billie Johnston and Ruby Greninger; two sons, Donnie and Larry R. Stogsdill, and two great-grandchildren: Ethan Stogsdill, and Mikah Stogsdill.

Survivors include: his wife, Louise, of the home, a sister, Doris Wyatt and husband Jim of Blue Springs, MO; two sons, Brad and wife, Linda Stogsdill of Miami, and Lonnie Stogsdill of Grove OK; and 3 previous daughter-in Laws: Tonya, Melissa, and Joy, and many nieces and nephews; 6 grandchildren including: Jessica Stogsdill of Miami, Mackenzie Stogsdill of Vinita, Dillon and wife Meagan Stogsdill of North Miami, Keylon and wife Whitney Stogsdill of Wyandotte, and Tatum and Triston Stogsdill of Joplin MO. Great-grandchildren include: Emma, Kyle, Dawson, Deklan, Meyah, Jae Lee, Tahlon, Vandal, Daxtyn, and Zelpha Mae.








Graveside services will be at 2:00 on Nov. 8, 2022 at GAR Cemetery in Miami with Reverend Steve Patterson officiating. Visitation with the family will be at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Nov. 7 from 6:00-8:00 pm. 

Pallbearers will be Dan Johnston, Gary Greninger, Dillon Stogsdill, Keylon Stogsdill, Triston Stogsdill, and Kyle Turk.
