(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Byron Sisk, age 92, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 1, 1934, in Vienna, Missouri, to his parents, Utah and Virgie Sisk.
Following his graduation from Carterville High School in 1954, Byron enlisted in the United States Army, where he honorably served as a large vehicle mechanic from August 8, 1956, to August 8, 1958. On January 21, 1964, in Carterville, Missouri, he married Linda Yeager, the love of his life, and together they shared 62 remarkable years building a cherished life.
Byron retired from ICI Explosives in 1998 after 27 years of dedicated service. He found great joy in camping, fishing, boating, and traveling in his RV, and was a passionate bowler. Gifted with a mechanical aptitude, he was known for his ability to repair nearly anything with moving parts.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Sisk; his daughter, Deanna Burns and her husband Kevin; two grandsons, Matthew Ervin and Nathan Ervin of Webb City, Missouri; two step-grandsons, Jacob and Zachary Burns of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister, Catherine “Kitty” Reynolds of Carterville, Missouri; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Utah and Virgie Sisk; eleven siblings; and one son, Mark Sisk.
A graveside service will be held at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
