Josephine Isbell

Josephine Isbell, 87, of Monett, MO, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 following a short illness.

Josephine was born on October 15, 1938, in Monett to Dr. Fritz and Alfreda (Vogel) Moennighoff. Being a lifelong resident, she graduated from Monett High School in the Class of 1956.

On September 22, 1962, Josephine married Don Isbell. To this union they were blessed with three children. Josephine owned and operated Gas & Groceries and Break Point for over twenty-five years.








Survivors include her husband, Don Isbell; her son, Lance Isbell and wife Jaysa; her daughters, Tracy Hancock and husband Ric and Jane Burnside and husband Kevin; her grandchildren: Brit Isbell, Bryce Isbell and wife Haley, Cade Isbell, Jordan Pender and husband Chris, Tara Swearingen and husband Zach, Jackson Burnside and wife Taylor and Brooke Burnside; one great-granddaughter, Kinley Isbell and three more blessings on the way; one sister, Mary Gowen and two brothers, Fritz Moennighoff and Walter Moennighoff.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Moennighoff and Barbara Moennighoff and her brother-in-law, Bob Gowen.

A private family service will be held. Mrs. Isbell will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Monett Area Workshop. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
