Pat Kane

(From Parker Mortuary)

Patricia J. “Pat” Curtis Kane, age 86, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday morning, April 26, 2026, in the comfort of her home.

Pat was born on September 25, 1939, in Bentonville, Arkansas, the middle of three children born to the union of the late William and Mildred (McCool) Gregory. She was raised in Rocky Comfort, Missouri, where she graduated high school in 1957. Following high school, she married Curtis Lauderdale, and they resided in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Pat and her daughters returned to McDonald County, Missouri, in 1970, to live in Noel.

On October 4, 1974, Pat married Max Curtis, and together they shared thirty years of marriage before his passing on September 13, 2005. Pat and Max built a life filled with love, partnership, and adventure. They owned and operated Sham's Pizza and Movie Time, both located in Noel.

Retirement brought a new chapter as they spent the next 14 years traveling the country in their motor home and living briefly in Yuma, Arizona.

In 1997, they returned to Missouri and settled in Joplin, where Pat continued to make a warm and welcoming home.

After Max's passing, Pat married Walter Kane in 2007. She and Walter enjoyed trips within the country and around the world. In Joplin, she became a member of Grace Baptist Church, where she served as secretary to the pastor and church librarian. She was also a published children's author, a role that reflected her creativity, imagination, and love for sharing stories with others. Pat had a deep love for traveling, writing, music, and caring for her dogs, but above all, she cherished her family.

She is survived by her three daughters, Cindy Moore and her husband, Greg, of Joplin, Missouri, Linda Miller and her husband, Roy, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Debbie Lauderdale of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Elissa Moore, Nathanael Moore, Scott Miller and his wife, Nicole, Adriel Pugh and her husband, Nate, Ashley Barnes and her husband, Jon, and Eric Miller and his wife, Natosha, along with nine great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a host of other family members and friends who will remember her with love and gratitude. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, George Harnar; and her siblings, Benjamin Gregory and Anna Reynolds; and both husbands, Max Curtis and Walter Kane.

Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Eric Miller, Scott Miller, Jon Barnes, Nathanael Moore, Nate Pugh, Ethan Barnes, Kaleb Barnes and Weston Miller. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
