Geyne Shoff

(From Konantz Warden Funeral Home)

Norma Geyne Shoff, of Lamar, MO, passed away on April 12th, 2026, at Good Shepherd Community Care. She was 93 years old, a life well-lived. Geyne was born on December 10th, 1932 to Ralph and Dimple Howrey in Nashville, MO. She had one older brother, Beverly Keith Howrey and 2 ‘adopted’ brothers, Vernon and Marvin Rodgers, that lived with her family for some time.

She graduated from Lamar High School in 1950 and worked as a Sodajerk at Rexall Drugstore before attending Draughon Business College. After college, Geyne returned to Lamar and was the secretary to F.M. Thorpe. On October 16th, 1954, she married Willis Parnel Shoff at the Lamar Christian Church and together they had 2 sons, Dayne and Harold. Willis and Geyne traveled around to many baseball games, and she became the official pitch count and scorebook keeper. This continued for decades as she watched her boys and grandchildren play ball. Geyne retired as the Deputy Circuit Clerk of Barton County, after 16 ½ years of service.

Geyne was quick-witted and always had a one-liner up her sleeve. She had exceptional penmanship that showed in every personal card she wrote. Geyne was known as a second mom to many of her son's friends, even sending hot deer chili with the boys to deer camp. She was a faithful catalog orderer and enjoyed giving her Brown Bag Specials at Christmas time. In her younger years, Geyne could be found bowling or picking up a game of bridge with her fellow friends. A crossword puzzle, the comic section of the newspaper, and a cup of black coffee were never too far out of reach. Geyne was always ready to chit-chat about the latest soap opera episode over a sweet dessert. Whether in person or over the phone, her sweet laughter was contagious.

Geyne was a member of the First Christian Church, VFW- Ladies Auxillary, and Eastern Star. She served as Chaplain and District Deputy Grand Matron during her 50 years in Eastern Star. Though her greatest title was Mom and Gram.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Dayne (Belinda) and Harold; her grandchildren, Ciara (Parker) Garfield, Conner Shoff, Kyler (Dallas) Shoff, Kaden (Jenna) Shoff. And her great-grandchildren, Gracee and Graysen Garfield, Miles and baby Shoff. Geyne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant child; her brother, Beverly Keith Howrey; and Brother-in-Law, Niles (Orrie) Shoff.

Geyne grew fond of her time at Maple Senior Living and Good Shepherd. And the family appreciates all the love and care she received.

The family will receive visitors on Friday April 17, 2026 from noon until 1:00 PM with a funeral service starting at 1:00 PM at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. Interment is at Nashville Cemetery.

If you would like to make a donatiion in lieu of flowers the family suggests Mt Hope Chapter 74 chapter of the Eastern Star.
