Scottie Downs

Scottie Duane Downs, age 64, of Stotts City, MO passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Mount Vernon, MO. He was born in Springfield, MO on Tuesday, May 2, 1961; son of Scottie Lee and Ida Belle (Parks) Downs. Scottie was known for his kind and caring heart, and he had a deep love for helping people—especially those who could not help themselves. His generosity, compassion, and willingness to give made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Scottie was divorced and is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Brower and his granddaughter, Anslie Brower of Mount Vernon, MO; five siblings, Ron (Patty Lang) Downs of Jacksonville, FL, Debbie (Rex) Kennedy of The Villages, FL, Jeff Downs of Stotts City, MO, Mary (Rex) Loftis of Mount Vernon, MO, and Rick (Lynda) Painter of, Aurora, MO; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will remember him with love and gratitude. 








Scottie was preceded in death by his parents, Scottie Lee and Ida Belle Downs of Miller, MO; and his brother, John Parks of Mount Vernon, MO.

Throughout his life , Scottie worked many truck-driving jobs and took pride in the hard work he did. More than anything, he loved helping others. His caring nature, giving spirit, and gentle heart defined who he was.

Scottie has been cremated. A private Celebration of Life for family and close friends will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
