Kathy Bruner

Kathleen “Kathy” Lee Bruner, 94, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, in North Carolina, where she had recently moved to be with her daughter and family. 

Kathy was born on October 25, 1931, in Oronogo, Missouri, to John and Opal Lee. She was a graduate of Webb City High School with the class of 1949 and went on to study  at Joplin Junior College. She had many hobbies: needlework, spending time with family and friends, walking around town, gardening, talking to the birds, butterflies, and God. She often commented she felt close to God when planting a fragrant flower of beauty and getting her hands dirty in the dirt he provided. 








She retired from Boatmen’s Bank in 1995 and was a former employee of The Webb Corp in Webb City where Kathy and Maurie crossed paths in 1950, their hearts in 1951, and they were united in marriage in 1955. She says “I have anticipated this day since your  departure, May 1, 2013, to be reunited with you through all eternity. A beautiful day with  a happy heart. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. It has been quite a journey.”

Kathy is survived by sons, Eric Bruner Aurora, Missouri, Tom Bruner (Connie ) of North Carolina: daughter, Machelle Ogle (Steve) of North Carolina; grandchildren, Megan (Nate) Dobbs of North Carolina, Braden (Jenny) Ogle of North Carolina, Grace and Avery Bruner of Texas, Keygan Bruner (Mariah) of Liberal, MO. Karson Bruner (Noble) of Camp Pendleton, CA; and six great grandchilden, Eli Dobbs of North Carolina, James and Willow Ogle of North Carolina, Liam Bruner of Liberal MO and Masiyn and Kallahan Bruner of CA. 








She was preceded in death by husband, Maurice Bruner; parents, John and Opal Lee; son, James Bruner (2004); and brother, Karl Lee.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
