Evelyn Ward

(From Simpson Funeral Home)

Evelyn Louise Ward, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away on April 19, 2026, at the age of 82. She was a woman full of love, laughter, and simple joys, and she leaves behind a legacy that will live on through her family for generations.

Evelyn was born on May 2, 1943, to Ira White and Edith White. She spent her entire life in the Joplin and Webb City area, where she built deep roots and lifelong connections with family and friends. Some of her most cherished memories were the summers she spent at the lake and at the race track with her family.

She came from a large family and shared her life with her brothers Jim White, Harry White, and Ira White; her stepbrother, Carl McGee; and her sisters, Pauline Fawver and Dorothy Rickey.

Evelyn devoted her life to the people she loved most. She had a deep love for her family and never missed a chance to show it. Whether through a warm meal, a kind word, or simply being present, she made everyone feel cared for and important.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, spending time at the races, trying her luck at the casino, and relaxing at home while watching her favorite westerns day and night. Those who knew her will remember her for her strong spirit, her sense of humor, and the way she could make a house feel like home.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Clyde Ward Sr.; her parents, Ira and Edith White; three brothers; two sisters; and many other cherished family members and dear friends who welcomed her with open arms.

She is survived by her three children, Edith Coberley (Michael), Cynthia Redmon (Jeffrey), and Clyde Ward Jr. (Rachel); six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. Her family was her greatest pride and joy.

Evelyn’s love, strength, and presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely.

A visitation will be held at 10 am on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City, followed by a graveside at Mt. Hope Cemetery with Pastor Lew Poe officiating.

Services are under the care and guidance of Simpson Funeral Home of Webb City. We encourage friends and relatives to visit the memorial page to share photos and memories of Evelyn.
