Joyce Anderson

(From Parker Mortuary)

Joyce Anderson passed away on April 25, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born to Raze and Loraine Lenderman on May 4, 1941. She grew up in Mount Ida, AR, and graduated from Mount Ida High School. In high school, she enjoyed taking stats for the baseball team (which her husband played for).

Joyce married Donald Anderson on October 18, 1958. They were married 52 years when Donald passed away in 2011. They owned and operated Anderson’s Upholstery together, opening the business in 1964 in Johnson County, KS. This became a family business with their son David working with them for many years, and all of their grandkids loved visiting “the shop.” They closed the business in 2007 when they retired and moved to Joplin, MO.

Joyce loved many things—quilting, cooking, baseball, bowling, and more—but she was defined by her fierce love for her family. She was surrounded by grandkids and great grandkids for most of her life, and they became her passion. She had the most contagious laugh, and you could rarely catch her without a smile on her face. She loved telling stories and could make a friend anywhere. Her legacy will live on in each recipe she perfected, quilt she stitched, and story she shared, but most importantly, in the joy that radiated from her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Donald Anderson, brother Jim Lenderman, daughter Julie Hook, and son-in-law Mickey Boles.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Mary Boles and son David Anderson (Kelly); grandchildren Tina McAfee (Brad), John Boles (Jessica), Jeff Boles (Alison), Jessica Morey (Caleb), Hannah Aldridge (Jonathan), Holly Bennett (Paden), and Kelsey Hook; as well as 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Mrs. Joyce Anderson will take place on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 4 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the association for frontotemporal degeneration.
