Charles Pettit

(From White Funeral Home)

Charles Edward Pettit, age 80, of Rocky Comfort, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Joplin after a long and courageous battle with declining health. Through every hardship and challenge, Charlie continued to fight with strength and determination.

Charlie was born on June 20, 1945, in Nebraska to Carol Lewis and Theda Olive (Perry) Pettit.

A hardworking man with a gift for fixing just about anything, Charlie owned and operated Charlie’s Fix-It Shop and spent his life working in many trades, including pipeline work, electrical, carnival work, welding, and fishing boats. If something was broken, Charlie could usually fix it if you gave him enough time and left him alone to figure it out. He was known for his strong work ethic, his resourcefulness, and his ability to solve problems others could not.

Charlie’s favorite pastime was fishing, a passion that brought him peace and joy throughout his life.

Charlie was loved by many throughout his community, each person knowing and appreciating him in their own special way. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and determination and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Most importantly, through it all, Charlie finished his journey with peace in his heart. With a humble nod of his head, he shared that he was ready to meet Jesus bringing comfort to those who loved him most.

He is survived by three sons, Jesse Black, Charles Pettit Jr., and Robert Pettit; one daughter, Alicia Allen; one brother, Dean Perry; two sisters, Joanne Northrop and Valerie Nostrand; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Karen Pettit

Arrangements are under the direction of White Funeral Home and Crematory.
