Dustin Colson

Steven Dustin Colson passed away on Monday, March 30th, 2026 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO. 

Colson, as he was known to his friends, was born April 1, 1983, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Marilyn Denise Colson. Steven Dustin Colson was preceded in death by his Mother Marilyn Denise Blaney (Colson) and his beloved grandparents Buck and Alice Colson. 

Colson is survived by his son Jayden. Jayden was the apple of his eye from the day of his birth and Colson loved him with his whole heart. He is also survived by his uncle Don Colson and wife, Connie, and his aunt Sharon Riggs and husband, Warren, many cousins, his special friend, Jennifer Camren and numerous other friends that he loved like family. 

Colson was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Western Heights High School. He moved to Joplin, MO in his late 20’s and lived there for the remainder of his life. Colson attended One Church for several years and attended Joplin Full Gospel church the last several months and attended Proof Ministries after rededicating his life to Jesus. He fought against addiction for many years and was winning that fight, being sober the last 6 months of his life. Colson was loved by many and was surrounded by those who loved him in his last days.
