Bob Ott

(From Bland-Brumback Funeral Home)

Robert “Bob” Ott, age 98, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 25, 2026. Bob was born on February 19, 1928, on a very cold morning, just south of Lockwood, Missouri, to Bill and Lizzie Ott. Raised on a farm without running water or electricity, Bob learned the value of hard work, faith, and family from an early age. He attended a one-room schoolhouse in the country before later moving to Jasper, Missouri, where he graduated high school in 1946 and proudly participated in the school band.

In 1947, Bob moved to Arcola, Missouri, where he met the love of his life, Hazel Richardson. Though she initially turned down his request for a date, Hazel soon changed her mind, and the two began a lifelong love story. They were married in 1950 and shared a devoted marriage built on faith, love, and commitment until Hazel’s passing. Bob lovingly cared for Hazel during her final days, faithfully honoring the vows and love they shared throughout their life together.

Bob entered the United States Army on December 2, 1950, during the Korean War, serving as a combat engineer. He was stationed in Mineral Wells, Texas, where he and Hazel made their home off base during his service.

After completing his time in the Army, Bob and Hazel settled in Stockton, Missouri, where they raised their family and built a life centered around God, family, and hard work. Bob worked hauling propane and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. He and Hazel were faithful members of Stockton Christian Church, where they were deeply involved in teaching Sunday School, hosting Bible studies, and serving others. Bob was a Godly man who loved the Lord wholeheartedly and lived his faith daily through kindness, humility, and service to those around him.

Bob enjoyed the outdoors and treasured time spent with family while fishing, camping, traveling, playing chess, golfing, and bowling. He especially loved tending to his garden and often said his favorite thing to grow was tomatoes. He and Hazel loved traveling together and often spoke fondly of their trips to Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon. He also enjoyed sharing stories of their travels, including his humorous tale of winning money in Las Vegas only for it to somehow “disappear” into Hazel’s care.

More than anything, Bob loved his family. He was a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather who cherished every moment spent with those he loved. His family remembers him as a steady, faithful presence whose wisdom, humor, and unwavering love shaped generations.

Bob is survived by his children, Carol Poynor and husband Tim, Revonda Scott and husband David, and Michael Ott and wife Lynne; his sister, Frances Thomas; many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly and was immensely proud of; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hazel; his infant son, Justin; his daughter, Janice; and his sister, Henrietta Lowrance.

Bob’s family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Parkview Healthcare Facility for the compassionate care, kindness, and friendship they showed him during his time there. He truly enjoyed the many friendships he made and the special moments shared with both residents and staff.

Bob’s life was a testimony to faithfulness to God, to his family, and to the life he built through hard work and devotion. His legacy of love, faith, and integrity will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held Friday May 29th at 11:00 AM in Stockton Christian Church burial in Hickory grove cemetery with full military honors and visitation in the church at 10:30 am
