(From Parker Mortuary)John Scott Kewer, 69, of Joplin, Missouri, was born on March 2, 1957, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late William and Jean (Moll) Kewer. He suddenly passed away on May 12, 2026, in Joplin, Missouri, as he was doing what he loved most, preaching the gospel.
Faith was central to John’s life, and he served the Lord and his church with dedication for many years. Since 1981, he had been deeply involved at Hornet Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he served as a Deacon, Preacher, and adult Sunday school teacher.
His ministry touched many lives through his teaching, encouragement, and example. He loved the Bible and devoted himself to memorizing scripture, carrying God’s word in his heart and sharing it with others in ways that were both sincere and memorable. His faith was not only something he spoke about, but something he lived each day. He also worked and retired from Freeman Health Systems, where he worked as a plumber and contributed faithfully through years of dependable service.
John also had a deep appreciation for history, especially World War II, and he enjoyed learning about the people and events that shaped the world. He found interest and enjoyment in comic books, nature, and birds, and he could often be found taking pleasure in the beauty of the world around him. He also had a fondness for his old red truck, which held a special place in his heart.
Above all else, John loved his family. He cherished his children, grandchildren, and all those who were dear to him. His family was the center of his heart, and he found great happiness in being present for them and sharing in their lives. He will be remembered for the love he gave so freely, the wisdom he shared, and the legacy of faith and devotion he leaves behind.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Connie (McCoy) Kewer; children, Amber Bean (John), and Jessica Everett (Chad).; grandchildren, Mariah Yeomans (Seth), Marissa Dudley (Zachary), Mariam Wilson, Isaac Wilson, Isaiah Bean, MaCarrie Bean, MaKinley Bean, Makaylee Bean, and Kade and Valencia; siblings, Steve Kewer and Jill Moore; and son-in-law, Don Vanzant.
