Mildred "Bobbe" McConnell Dickinson went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 4, 2014 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mildred was born on December 11, 1917 in Tipton Ford, Missouri, daughter of the late Grason and Marie McConnell. She lived in Joplin until 1937 when she went to Washington, D.C. to work for the Federal Government Civil Service. During World War II, she worked for the War Department Air Forces in Casper, Wyoming, and Sacramento, California, and later for Civil Service Corps of Engineers in Chicago, Illinois.
She married Lester Borem October 19, 1947 in Pittsburg, Kansas at her parents' home, and they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. She retired from International Harvester on January 1, 1980 after 25 years of employment.
She was a member of Connor Avenue Baptist Church in Joplin, Cumberland Baptist in Indiana, and currently a member of Southport Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by three sisters, one of her sisters, Maxine Black, was a lifelong Joplin resident and passed away on October 2, 2003.
Survivors include her son, Thomas E. Borem of Indianapolis; nieces, Connie (Black) Christman of Joplin, Cynthia (Mundy) Robinson of Florida, Denise (Mundy) Frissell of Florida, nephews, Dr. Mike Cass of Saluda, South Carolina, Dr. Ken Mundy of Florida, and several great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. Noon in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
