Paul Eugene Patton, Jr., age 62, Carl Junction, passed away at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at his home after a sudden illness. Paul was born November 18, 1951 in Webb City, Missouri to the late Paul E. Patton, Sr. and Ella Beatrice Stephen Patton and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.
Paul was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired after 21 years of service. He was awarded several medals and citations, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Paul worked at Coca-Cola for 20 years as a service technician. There was nothing he could not fix or do. He made many lasting friendships over the years and will be missed by all that worked alongside of him.
In his spare time, Paul enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing. Some of his fondest memories were spent with his grandchildren while on the water.
He married Julie Churchill on April 22, 1972 in Joplin. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include two sons, Brent Patton and his wife, Lisa, Carthage, Eric Patton and his wife, Laura, Bend, Oregon; grandchildren, Autumn, Sierra, Clinton, Zach, Kayla; and siblings, Perry Patton, Joplin, Preston Patton, Carl Junction; Ella Marbut, Elizabeth Mitchell and Eugenia Lemmons, all of Joplin.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by three brothers Phillip, Pete and Patrick.
Memorial services are planned for Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Brad Graves will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services at the church. Full military honors will be provided at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in care of Parker Mortuary.
