Dorothy Ann Watkins, age 68, of Webb City, Mo. passed away at 9:49 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at her home. Dorothy was born August 20, 1945 in Webb City, She was raised in Neosho and returned to Webb City in 1988. She and her husband owned several Sonic Drive-Ins including a store in Bolivar, Mo. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Webb City. She was also a member of the Redhatters, and she and her husband were involved in a cruise night club. Dorothy also enjoyed playing Bunko.
Dorothy married Charles W. Watkins September 18, 1965 in Neosho, Mo. and he survives. Additional survivors include three daughters, Vicki An Jones, and Kimberly Elliston and husband Daniel, all of Stockton, Mo. and La Donna Robbins and husband Jimmy, Bolivar, Mo., one brother, William J. Sprenger, Carthage, Mo., 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Gladys Sprenger, two brothers, George R. and Herman J. Sprenger, and a grandson, Charlie Watkins.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Webb City with Rev. Kyle Beverlin officiating. Burial will follow at the Pennsboro Cemetery, north of Miller, Mo. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Jones, Eric Jones, Jimmy Robbins, Justin Robbins, Daniel Elliston, Dakota Elliston, and Shane McCarley. Vern Gilbert and William Sprenger will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the Hedge-Lewis Chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home of Webb City, Mo.
