Glenn Kay Allison, age 77, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on January 1, 2014 after a six month long fight against cancer.
Glenn was born in Miller, Missouri, June 4, 1936. He was the son of John Ernest Allison and Mildred (Kirby) Allison and the family resided in rural Greenfield, MO until 1944. Upon moving to Jasper County, he attended Underwood and Perseverance Schools and later three years at Carl Junction High School and transferred to Carthage High School his Senior year. He also attended Missouri University for one year taking agriculture classes.
Glenn and Betty “Harrison” Allison were married in Miami, Oklahoma, November 22, 1958.
Survivors include his wife Betty Allison of Carthage; daughter Debbie (Allison) Carter and husband Peter Carter of Carthage; daughter Lisa Allison of Tulsa, OK; two grandsons Lathe Carter and wife Brittany Carter of Carthage and Landon Carter of Carthage; two sisters Nelda R. (Allison) Shirley and husband John R. Shirley of Joplin and Glenna J. (Allison) Dykens and husband Raymond L. Dykens of Fayette, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lyndall Allison, sister Marilyn Mahurin and a son Russell Glenn Allison.
Glenn was employed earlier at Boeing, Wichita, KS and worked in construction. He was a semi driver for Yellow Freight, Atlas Powder Company and DYNO Nobel. The years with Atlas and DYNO were usually hauling explosives. He enjoyed his driving and the fellowship of his team members.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Graveside Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
